Visakhapatnam is a beautiful city on the east coast rapidly growing in to economic capital of the newly formed state of Andhra Pradesh. Besides NTPC, the other industries in the city are Steel plant, HPCL, Naval base, Dockyard, Shipyard, Port , Coromondal fertilizers ,Pharma City, Fintech city etc.

It is also a seat of learning with IIM, Andhra University, Gitam University, Maritime Institute etc..

The place also has picturesque locations in and around for tourist interest.

Visakhapatnam is on the Chennai – Howrah National Highway and trunk rail line. Airport connects to all principal cities in India apart from some other cities.

NTPC, Simhadri is a 4X500MW capacity plant in two stages. Stage 1 (2X500MW) power is supplied exclusively to the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Stage 2 (2X500MW) power is supplied to all Southern states.

RLI, Visakhapatnam caters to the Training needs of employees of NTPC southern plants and offices. It is located in the NTPC Township , Deepanjalinagar.

Simhadri-EDC was upgraded to Regional Learning Institute in 2016.

RLI is also successfully conducting Training programmes to ET / DT / AT batches not only from NTPC but also from JVs like NSPCL etc. RLI is also facilitating project work/in plant training to professional college students and apprentices through Board of Apprentice Training (Southern Region).

From Duvvada to Steel Plant Gate, the distance is 5 Kms.

VSKP stn: pre- paid taxi charge : around Rs 1200/- ( Around 70 min), City bus number 400N to Vadacheepurupalli (stops at NTPC township gate) Around 2hrs
Ola / Uber cabs available up to Kurmannapalem gate to Vizag Steel Plant. From there auto Rs 300/- or city bus (400N)

  • The Project name “Simhadri” came from Simhachalam, the hill top temple of Lord Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy which is 16KM from the Visakhapatnam city.
  • First Coastal Based Coal Fired thermal Power Project of NTPC
  • Biggest Sea Water Intake-Well in India (For Drawing Sea Water from Bay of Bengal)
  • Use of Sea Water for Condenser Cooling and Ash Disposal
  • One of the Tallest Natural Draft Cooling Tower of Asia (165 M)
  • First Asian Company to bag the coveted IPMA award in 2005
  • The first 500MW Unit of Simhadri Stage-I was synchronized in a record time of 39 months from the date of Main Plant order, setting a new bench mark in green field project execution.
