Event Title Implementation Methodology for Land Acquisition and Displacement Settlement & Rehabilitation
Programme Overview
and Objective
For a Coal Mining Project, we need to acquire land for Mining area as well as Infrastructure facilities associated with it. Land acquisition is the most important part in coal mining since, coal companies are facing constraints in production due to difficulties in the acquisition of land- tenancy, in respect of Government land and also forest land. Moreover, acquisition of land takes a long time thereby causing delay in the mining operations. The socio-economic impact of a coal mining project is much dependent on its Resettlement and Rehabilitation (R&R) policy. The rehabilitation action plan should be properly formulated so that after a reasonable transition period, the affected families improve or at least regain their previous standard of living, earning capacity and production levels.
