Programme Overview
and Objective
Structural changes happening within the electric utility industry have changed the manner in which segments of power systems are owned and networks are operated. The impact of these changes with respect to the system protection function has become extremely important. Proper understanding of various protection schemes, their functions, settings etc will be useful for both Maintenance Engineers and Operation Engineers. This programme is designed for executives working in O&M area of power stations and substations.

Upon completion of this course,

  • The participants will have better understanding about the role and functioning of various protection components such as CTs, VTs, relays and CBs.
  • The participants will have the knowledge about the relay coding and numbering.
  • The participants will have better understanding about various protection methodologies used for generators, transformers, busbars, lines and LT equipments.
  • The participants will have better understanding about substation  automation systems, protocols etc.
  • The participants will have the knowledge about the latest trends in protection technology, including numerical relays.
